PAUSE

What do Pause do?

We are an open access, youth led, brief intervention, emotional health and wellbeing service for:

  • Children and young people under 25 years old who have a Birmingham GP,
  • Parents/carers of children and young people under 25 years old who have a Birmingham GP.

What does that mean??

Open access = if you are under 25 and registered with a Birmingham GP – you can access Pause.

Youth led = means 2 things:

  1. It is up to the child/young person to choose to access Pause. We don’t accept referrals.
For anyone under 13 years old, a parent/carer needs to register with their child. For those 14 and over, they can register without a parent/carer. Parents/carers can also register for support helping their child/young person.
  1. Pause can support the young person explore anything that’s impacting their emotions and feelings, we are here to help!

Brief Intervention = we offer sessions that lasts 20-30 minutes. There is no commitment for you to have another session, it’s your choice if you’d like to come back to Pause. If you want to receive support, please check the Pause website to enquire about booking a session and our drop-in hours. We don’t case manage or offer ‘counselling’.

We understand that some are excited to get back to ‘normal’ and access drop-in face to face support, whilst others are more comfortable with booked phone and video calls. So, we are offering the choice, drop-in sessions are being offered at different locations and times each week – just check out our webpage for this week’s times.

Emotional Health and Wellbeing = Anything relating to feelings and how to manage them. E.g. arguments with friends or family, anxiety about crowds, loneliness, low mood, relationships, transitions between stages in education like starting a new school/college/uni, how to cope with anger, bullying, gender, identity and more.

Our team is made up of experienced wellbeing practitioners and wellbeing volunteers who will take the time to listen and provide support strategies.

To find out about Pause drop-ins or request a phone or video call, please go to our webpage: https://forwardthinkingbirmingham.nhs.uk/pause

If you don’t have web access call our Registration line 020 784 14470 (calls charged at local rates)- leave your contact details so our team can call you back with this week’s drop-in details or register you over the phone.
